Instead of mechanical air conditioning, an "osmotic ventilation system" uses cell membranes in the outer walls to filter oxygen from seawater and purify indoor air. The floor has a soft, organic texture; interior lighting changes colour in response to occupants' emotions, and the building's heartbeat serves as gentle white noise.
